Darin Childs, a stereotypical, tortured artist
My name is Darin Childs, well, as far as you’re concerned, my name is Darin Childs. In the late 90’s I started a journey to fulfill my lifelong dream of becoming a professional wrestler. To be more exact, my dream was to be the greatest professional wrestler of all time. In hindsight, my dream may have been more to be my idol Bret Hart than an actual wrestler, but I digress. I have been in the rasslin biz for over a decade; I may not be the greatest of all time, but I may be the most passionate (excluding Portia Perez, who is actually the most passionate wrestler I’ve ever known). I’ve used my passion & tenacity to far exceed the expectations ANYONE, (including myself) held for me when I started this incredible trip through a dirty, gritty underground culture. Wrestling has given me everything I have in life from my career, to my friends, to my fondest memories, to my wife. I can NEVER pay back the industry that has given me so much, but I’ll never stop trying…almost to the point I have become a slave to my own revolution.
As with anything you love, pro wrestling as brought as much pain and frustration to my life as it has joy. It is a very slippery world of politically driven hate mongers out there, ya know, just like the hateful political monsters you as a reader deal with in whatever your chosen path may be. I am intelligent enough to understand that I only believe the politics in pro wrestling are the worst because they are the politics I know. I am a 30 year old man with a life time of memories that is living a dream. what do I have to complain about? I’m sure I will do my share of ranting, but in reality please know I do it out of passion…an undying passion.
Over the course of the last year I have been sharing my passion of wrestling with a passion of script writing, screen writing, penning graphic novels & an overall love for creating art. I almost feel like I’m cheating on professional wrestling, but I think I just need another outlet that isn’t so cutthroat in my mind. I’ve earned a spot in the business that comes with a great deal of pressure, expectations & mentoring. It’s never easy to always be at your best, but it’s a burden I am proud to carry. How many revolutions have you fronted?
In my next blog I will fully discuss the pressure & pleasure I get from my transition from pro wrestler to pro wrestling promoter. I intend on being more open, honest & emotional than anyone you know. This blog was designed to be rather undefined, unspecific & lacking in detail. Look at this blog as a cryptic introduction to the life of a stereotypical, tortured artist. Emotional conflict is what steers the vehicle of my life; this will be the map through this stage of my journey. Please note, this blog isn’t about wrestling, its about Darin Childs, the man who can save pro wrestling.
